A fire at a home in Willimantic Monday turned deadly, according to officials.
Town officials said they were called to 144 Manners Ave. late Monday morning.
At first, the homeowner was said to be unaccounted for after more than half of the roof collapsed. Firefighters continued to struggled to get into the home well into the evening hours.
However, they said the body of a man was eventually found inside and was sent to the state medical examiner's office for an identification autopsy.
The man's name is not being released until his next of kin is notified, according to officials.
The Windham fire marshal and state fire marshal's office continue to gather information about a possible fire cause and cause of death.
