VERNON, CT (WFSB) -

A shoplifting suspect was caught red-handed at a store in Vernon.

Police said 49-year-old David Demeusy of Tolland stole a bag of shrimp worth nearly $100 from a Stop & Shop.

However, one of the store employees was able to get his license plate registration before he fled.

Officers said they identified Demeusy as the suspect.

He was arrested later when he returned to the store to allegedly pay for the stolen shrimp, according to police.

Demeusy posted a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Dec. 15.
