NEWINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

A homeowner is speaking about her experience after three men attempted to break into a home in Newington on Tuesday morning.

Police said the incident took place at a residence on Adrian Avenue around 10:35 a.m. The men tried to enter the home via an open window.

“When I came up the stairs, I figured something wasn't right because the door was jiggling,” said the homeowner Gloria Brown.

Brown said she was downstairs, trying to get something out of the dryer when she heard banging.

“When I got upstairs I seen a guy with his feet coming through that window,” Brown said.

Then, Brown said she sees two other men looking inside from her upper deck.

“The guy that was in the window didn't see me, so they left him running. So then I went to grab a knife to grab to stab at him,” Brown said.

After a search of the area, the suspects were not located by police.

What the thieves probably didn't realize is Brown has a security camera and it was all caught on tape.

The men were seen driving by her house in a dark-colored Honda Accord with a partial plate starting with the letters “AB.”

Police are continuing to search for the three suspects and fingerprinted the window area.

Brown just put in the cameras about a week ago and suggested other homeowners did the same thing.

“Let me tell you something, it works,” Brown said.

Police said they do have some leads. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Newington Police Department at 860-594-6217.
