A crash involving a CTfastrak bus and a pedestrian in Wethersfield remained under investigation on Tuesday.
Police said it happened along Jordan Lane Monday night.
The pedestrian, a man, suffered life-threatening injuries.
Fire officials released a photo that was taken moments before the bus struck the man, whom became pinned underneath the vehicle.
Police believe he had been a passenger on the bus just moments beforehand.
“Anytime that there's that kind of trauma where an individual is impacted with a bus like that, it's certainly not good,” said Capt. James Ritter, Wethersfield Fire Department.
The victim has not been identified, but was said to be taken to the hospital in serious condition.
"Any time it's this kind of a situation where the outcome is uncertain, it's very hard on our rescuers,” Ritter said.
The CTTransit Authority is also looking into the collision.
A spokesperson for the Department of Transportation said incidents involving CTTransit buses and pedestrians are very rare.
Police said the bus driver was giving a blood-alcohol content test, which is standard procedure.
As of Tuesday morning, they did not believe the driver was at fault.
