HEBRON, CT (WFSB) -

A parent from Hebron threatened to blow up a daycare center last Friday, according to state police.

Troopers said 36-year-old Kristy Ellison not only made the bomb threat, she also referenced shooting the place up.

They said Ellison became upset over an administrative issue at the Discovery Zone Learning Center on Pendleton Drive.

During a conversation with several of the center's employees, she allegedly stated that she was going to blow up and shoot up the facility.

Ellison turned herself in to State Police troop K.

"She should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. This is too much. There are children there to learn, to have fun and learn how to behave in society and the parents are showing them the wrong things," said Harry Gruss, who is a grandparent.

She was charged with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening, troopers said.

Ellison was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and given a court date of Dec. 22 in Rockville.

Eyewitness News was able to contact a family member who said the outburst was in response to an issue at the daycare, but didn't want to go on camera to explain further.

Some parents in Hebron said there's no excuse for setting that type of example.

"Not in this time, with what's going on in our world right now, no. It's crazy," said Sharon Bell of Hebron.

Ellison's friends said she is a great mother who has several children and just got a little too emotional.
