A raid by police in Plainfield led to the seizure of hundreds of bags of heroin and four arrests near an elementary school.
Police said they arrested Travis Golden, 34, Kimberly Johnson, 36, Kara Racine, 22, and 22-year-old Michael Fisher on Wednesday.
They said they executed a search warrant at an apartment on Church Street, which is in the Moosup section of town, around 8 p.m. Police said concerned neighbors alerted them.
Police said the apartment is located directly across the street from the Moosup Elementary School.
The search resulted in the discovery of more than 200 bags of heroin, a small amount of crack cocaine and a small amount of marijuana as well as paraphernalia.
"At the point we entered the residence we observed Mr. Golden actually take off running towards the bathroom and was subdued by an officer as he was trying to flush narcotics down the toilet," said Plainfield Police Capt. Mario Arriaga.
Golden, Johnson, Racine and Fisher all face a list of drug-related charges.
Police said they encourage anyone with information about suspicious or drug-related activity to contact them at 860-564-0804 or their anonymous tip line at 860-564-7065.
