An initial report of a suspicious person on the grounds of a West Hartford middle school prompted an extra police presence on Friday.
Police confirmed that they were keeping a close eye on Sedgewick Middle School.
However, they called it a misunderstanding between an administrative assistant and a parent.
The person in question was a parent looking for their child, police said.
As a result, they said their involvement in the incident was over.
Thursday, principal Andrew Clapsaddle alerted parents to an incident that happened on the school property.
He said a suspicious person was spotted around dismissal time on Thursday.
However, school officials said it did not appear that any students were actually approached.
They used the incident as means to remind parents to speak with their children about stranger danger.
