With the season of pay-it-forward upon, the Newington Park and Recreation Department is using that concept to send residents on a holiday scavenger hunt.
Newington Park and Recreation Department wants to draw thousands more people to parks and all recreation sites such as Mill Pond Park. Their fresh idea is a holiday hunt.
“We'll give them a little hint,” Bill Demaio with Newington Parks and Recreation Department said. “We'll take a picture of where we're going to hide this envelope and they'll go hunting this afternoon and tonight."
For people to figure out where everything is hidden, they first need to visit the Newington Parks and Recreation Department Facebook page. Each day, clues will be posted for the latest prize.
The staff for the Newington Parks and Recreation Department are hiding the envelopes starting on Monday at popular places throughout the town. Winners may wind up with a $50 gift certificate to a local restaurant and two $25 dollar gift certificate for programs such as zumba or classes offered at town hall.
The contest ends Dec. 18.
The end goal is to get more people to take classes and get involved with parks of Newington.
