HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A Hard Rock hotel and cafe are coming to Hartford.

The 170-room facility is set to open in the Downtown North neighborhood in the fall of 2018. The proposed site of the hotel/restaurant is the intersection of Main and Trumbull Streets.

Marco Roca, who is the executive vice president of global hotel development at Hard Rock International, said they excited to bring their brand to “New England in a city as welcoming as Hartford.”

“We look forward to being a part of Hartford’s Downtown North evolution as one of the most exciting new neighborhoods in the region,” Roca said in statement on Monday.

The 170-room hotel will feature a rooftop pool, contemporary Hard Rock Cafe, Body Rock workout facility, Rock Spa and rock shop that sells classic music merchandise.

“The glowing iconic guitar of the Hard Rock brand lighting up downtown Hartford will be a symbol to all residents and visitors that Connecticut’s Capital City is a primary destination,” Jason Rudnick, who is the president of Centerplan Companies, said in statement on Monday.

"It's about the community also, there's people out there looking for jobs and I think it's a good thing," said Adalberto Rodriguez, of Hartford.

Several of the locations across the country have casinos attached, and in Florida, Hard Rock is aligned with Native American casinos.

It is unclear what has happened to the initial plans for businesses like Thomas Hooker Brewing, to occupy some of the space.

The stadium will be ready to go next year. The hotel is slated to open in 2018.
