Residents in Windsor Locks are split on the idea of a third casino in town.
A public hearing was held on Tuesday night, where some people said they want to see numerous jobs become available to locals.
"The economy starts with construction work, we build buildings, and then the rest will come,” said David Roche.
However, others said they are upset with the negative effects the suburb could see.
"I don’t want people to get addicted to gambling, I just don't think it's a good thing,” said Will Daudelin.
Others are still unsure, as no set plans of what the casino would look like were revealed.
"I really have no opinion, I’d like to hear what the proposals are and gather some information,” said Charles Agli.
After the public hearing, town officials said a plan must be outlined before they begin any discussions with tribes.
Then, another town meeting must be held afterward for a development agreement, but all of that is far off into the future.
Two proposals were submitted from the town—a possible site at Bradley International Airport or at Bobby V’s Restaurant.
"I want to see a fair representation of how the residents really feel about it rather than what some organizations are interested in,” said Christine Soucy.
Windsor Locks is one of four locations interested. The two tribes said there has been a delay in choosing, and it may not be until next year, but the state has the final say.
