EAST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police continue to investigate a rollover crash in East Hartford after which the driver fled.

According to police, the driver of a Honda Accord fled the scene of the crash near 56 Great Hill Rd.

Police said the incident was reported just before 4:15 a.m. on Friday and involved a gas meter. It stopped short of hitting a home.

"I just heard a big boom and it's caught right there," said Rafael Colon, an eyewitness.

Garbage buckets and a fence appear to be the only things that were damaged from the home.

Fire officials and workers from Connecticut Natural Gas also responded to the scene; however, no gas leak was found.

Police eventually caught up to the unidentified driver, who was said to be in his 20s, and he was transported to Hartford Hospital for evaluation. His injuries were not serious.

The vehicle was towed from the scene around 5:30 a.m.

There is no word yet on if he faces any charges as a result of the crash.
