Police in Plainfield said they had received phone calls from residents stating they felt an earthquake on Friday afternoon.
Police said at just before 4 p.m., they had been receiving many calls, however what residents felt was apparently permitted blasting in the Moosup area.
In a press release, officials said "Connecticut Explosives Company Incorporated Blasting and Drilling Supplies was conducting blasting on the property located across from the Riverview Restaurant located on North Main Street, Moosup."
The company had valid signed permits issued by the town to conduct the blasting.
Officials requested that the company provide a courtesy call for future blasting projects so residents can be informed.
