Bridgeport police said one person was killed and another seriously injured when two men opened fire during a robbery late Friday night.
Police said they were called to Grand Pizza at the corner of Grand and Main streets around 10:15 p.m.
According to police, two men entered the building in an attempt to rob the business. The owner of the business ran for the front door at which time one of the men opened fire with a handgun striking two workers inside the business.
Police said the men then fled on foot and were last seen northbound on Hurd Avenue.
The victims, who have been identified as 19-year-old Oscar Martin-Refugio of Bridgeport and 41-year-old Humberto Barrera of Bridgeport, were both rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital.
Police said Martin-Refugio succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. Meanwhile, Barrera was shot in the chest. He underwent emergency surgery and is currently listed in critical condition, officials said.
Police are working to recover video surveillance from a nearby business in hopes they can get a description of the men involved.
