A 60-year-old Connecticut woman is facing driving under the influence charges after she allegedly struck and killed a teenager walking along a road on Christmas.
Barbara Ross, of Cheshire, is due in New Haven Superior Court January 14 after being released on a $5,000 bond this weekend.
Connecticut State Police say Ross' 2009 Honda Fit struck 18-year-old Bethany resident Robert Weidig Jr. while he was walking on the shoulder of Route 69 in the area of Hatfield Hill Road in Bethany on Friday night.
Weidig Jr. had been walking with his brother at the time and had been heading to a Christmas open house at Bethany Dance and Music. Organizer Billy Fischer described Weidig Jr. as an "exceptional person, filled with love" on the group's Facebook page.
