The American Athletic Conference released the 2016 schedule for University of Connecticut football team on Tuesday.
The UConn Huskies are expected to play five teams that went to “bowl games in 2015 and three that were ranked or received votes in the final college football polls.”
UConn coach Bob Diaco said he was “excited” about their upcoming schedule for both our team and UConn Nation.”
“We have seven great home games and the American Athletic Conference will be as spectacular this year as it was last year. In addition, we have a challenging non-conference schedule against regional teams which provides even more energy for our program and fans,” Diaco said in a statement on Tuesday.
The Huskies will play seven home games at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford with matchups against Virginia, Syracuse, Cincinnati and Temple.
UConn will be televised nationally three times next year.
The Huskies season opens with a Thursday night matchup against Maine of the Colonial Athletic Conference on Sept. 1.
