The Greater Hartford Transit District announced Friday that a new restaurant will open inside Union Station in Hartford.

Bear's Smokehouse Barbeque will soon be in the cafe at the Great Hall.

It's the third location for the restaurant and the second to open in downtown Hartford.

Once it opens in May, Bear's will have the ability to schedule events as well as serve wine and beer.

According to the press release, the concept of the restaurant will be more bar focused, offering local and micro-brewed beers on tap, handmade batch cocktails, and wine selections.

Fan favorite dishes as well as new seasonal items will also be available to eat.

"We're excited to be expanding our presence in the Hartford community which has treated us so well while offering something new and different. It's exciting for us. We'll have the space to play with new menu items, pair those with great beers and wine, all while still staying true to who we are," said Jamie McDonald, Co-owner and founder of Bear's.
