HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Residents who live in one part of the capital city will be able to get their groceries delivered for free, according to one supermarket.

Associated Supermarket, which opened earlier this month on Barbour St., will offer free grocery delivery to residents who live in the 06120 and 06112 zip codes.

The supermarket said in a release they are doing this because of the cold temperatures and the number of elderly housing complexes in the neighborhood.

"From Tuscan Homes, to St. Monica’s to Ida B. Wells, we are surrounded by elderly housing complexes,” said Louinel Sterling, co-owner of Associated. “Temperatures are expected to be dangerously cold, and we are here to serve the community. This is one small gesture we can make to let our neighbors know we are here for them.”

The store is open between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. and residents can pay for their groceries with a debit, credit or EBT card.
