One person killed in overnight fire in Putnam

Putnam firefighter remain on the scene of an overnight fire that killed on person.

Crews responded to a home on Walnut Street just prior to 5:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving 911 calls reporting the house was on fire.

When firefighters arrived they found smoke and flames coming from the lower level of the house.

Crews worked to get the fire under control as quickly as possible, but the addition of frigid temperatures did impeded their efforts.

Once firefighters were able to enter the home they found the body of a man deceased.  The victim has not been identified at this time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
