WEST CORNWALL, CT (WFSB) -

Firefighters from several communities battled a barn fire in West Cornwall Tuesday morning.

It broke out on Cherry Hill Road overnight.

Officials said 200 pigs and piglets were lost in the fire.

Several draft horses inside were saved, however.

Police said up to seven fire departments were called to the area to help put out the flames.

An iWitness photo from the scene showed firefighters dealing with icy and slushy conditions.

There were no reports of injuries.

The barn was said to be a total loss.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
