A New London based doctor already facing multiple sex assault charges in Wisconsin is now under investigation following a sex assault complaint in the Whaling City.

Dr. Wilton Calderon has only been in New London for one year, and in that short time, at least one complaint of inappropriate touching has been filed against him, and medical regulators have suspended his doctor’s license.

Calderon, 45 of Old Lyme, is facing four felonies and a half dozen misdemeanor charges in Plover, Wisconsin, in connection to alleged sex assaults of his patients in late 2014.

Months later, he moved to Old Lyme and started practicing with the L&M Medical Group in New London, and at least one complaint has been filed.

"There are more than likely other complaints that will start trickling in. I'm not sure how many, this person wasn't really in New London for a long period of time,” said New London Police Deputy Chief Peter Reichard.

Calderon wasn’t home with Eyewitness News knocked on his door on Thursday, but a neighbor said they were surprised to learn he was a medical doctor with some questionable history.

The doctor’s license to practice in Connecticut was granted last August, but suspended last month by the state medical board. State licensing records show he can still write prescriptions.

Calderon was a family practitioner, and right now he is free on bond from Wisconsin with a court appearance back there next month.

New London police are checking to see if there are more potential victims in the area.

"If you look at the behavior of the person, it happened in one jurisdiction it’s probably going to happen in another jurisdiction. A doctor is in a position of authority over a patient,” Reichard said.

New London police investigated a similar case two years ago, and after a report by Eyewitness News, more alleged victims came forward.

Police said they hope anyone with more information comes forward.
