South meets North with Francine Austin’s unique and delicious breakfast recipe.  Martini shrimp and grits!  You may recognize Francine from "The Chew" where she made brown sugar & bourbon barbeque spare ribs!  She also runs and owns a salon in Bloomfield.

SoNo(South Meets North) Martini Shrimp & Grits


8-10 Servings


1 cup Quaker Quick Grits

4 cups water

2 chx boulon

½ cup of heavy cream

2 tablespoons butter

1-1/2 cup shredded cheese blend asiago, mozzarella, and provolone cheese

2 tablespoons garlic powder

1 tablespoons dried basil

1 tablespoons Lawry’s seasoning salt


Bring water to boil stir in grits. Reduce heat to low, simmer for 5 minutes, continuously stirring until thick. Add butter, garlic, basil, Lawry’s, and cheese. Turn off heat.



1lb. large shrimp peel and devein

6 slices hickory smoked brown sugar bacon

1 large red bell pepper diced (place a few to the side for garnish)

4 scallions chopped fine (place 1 to the side for garnish)

2 tablespoon minced garlic

1-tablespoon cayenne pepper

Dash of salt and pepper


Fry bacon crispy, place on draining towel and place grease to the side. In a bowl mix shrimp, red bell peppers, scallions, garlic, cayenne pepper. Reheat skillet with bacon grease add seasoned shrimp mixture and sauté until shrimp are plump and pink. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve in large martini glass.., presentation is everything! Spoon in grits top with shrimp. Garnish with crumbled bacon, finely chopped scallions, and red peppers.  Best Drink In the House!!!
