MILFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A Milford mom claimed her family's picture was stolen online and later used in a false news article, tarnishing her reputation.

Karena Bennett said a picture of her featured in the "Milford Mirror" ended up in online news stories claiming she's a 36-year-old Detroit woman named Anita Sullivan, who just gave birth to her 14th child from 14 different fathers.

The image, which shows Bennett with her husband and baby, was featured in a January 2, 2015 article about Milford Hospital's first baby of the year.

Bennett wants people to know she has one child and her husband is the father of her baby boy. She said she was devastated when she saw the articles on a number of websites Thursday.

"I was at work all day yesterday and at the end of the night I sat in my house and cried," Bennett said. "And to know someone stole my family's first photo and put something like that on it...It disgusts me and really hurt me a lot."

One bogus Facebook page entitled "Chicago Fox 32" posted the story, which was liked more than 5,000 times and shared more than 40,000 times.

The page was taken down Friday afternoon.

"I see all these different comments and just slandering me...like completely and it hurt," Bennett said.  "I can't say anything more but my son means the world to me."

"You look on the Internet and you want to believe things and not all of it's true," she said.

The Milford Mirror said they'll run a follow up article to defend the mom.

Meanwhile, Bennett is considering legal action.
