TOLLAND, CT (WFSB) -

Four people were able to escape a house fire in Tolland without being injured on Friday night.

The two-alarm fire was reported at 303 Sugar Hill Rd. around 7 p.m.

Authorities said one person escaped the home using a ladder on the side of the dwelling.

Upon arrival, firefighters said everyone was outside the home.

There were 25 firefighters called to the scene.

The home including the basement sustained bad damage, authorities told Eyewitness News.

The family told firefighters they smelt smoke and called 911 immediately.

State fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
