Rescue crews pulled two fishermen to shore in Granby after they fell through thin ice.
It happened on Manitook Lake shortly after noon Saturday.
Police said an elderly male and his teenaged grandson were rescued by rope after being in the water for about 20 minutes.
After they were removed from the lake, they were treated for hypothermia and transported to Saint Francis Hospital.
Luckily, neighbors were home at the time of the incident.
"My wife looked over towards the lake and said 'My God, those guys are in the water.' And I looked too and I said they are they're in the water," said neighbor Dennis Schmidt.
Schmidt dialed 9-1-1 while another neighbor, Steve, ran out to help. Despite his best efforts, Steve couldn't pull the men out and fell into the water too. That created some difficulty for emergency responders once they arrived on scene.
"We didn't have a long enough rope to get out there so we started piecing together from pieces of rope people had," said Schmidt.
The fishermen were reportedly visiting a resident on Lakeside Dr. and do not live in Granby.
Both of them are recovering at the hospital.
The neighbor, Steve, is back at home recovering.
