On Saturday, First & Last Tavern in Glastonbury was the place where a family was the recipient of an act of kindness.
On Facebook, the restaurant wrote that a woman who went to the establishment looking to pay it forward on Saturday.
She told the restaurant manager her son Luke lost his battle to cancer when he was just 17 months old.
His birthday was on Saturday and he would have been turning 2 years old.
The woman told the manager she wanted to choose a random family that was dining at the restaurant and give them a $50 gift card to put toward their meal.
She also asked that the manager give the family any remaining balance on the card.
The woman saw a family at the restaurant with a little boy who looked about the same age as her son Luke, so she decided that was the family she would anonymously treat.
The woman wrote out a card explaining the loss of her son Luke and then left the restaurant.
The manager told the family that their meal was paid for and gave them the gift card with the remaining balance.
The family read the card and then told the manager that their son was actually celebrating his third birthday on Saturday.
The restaurant ended the Facebook post saying “We can't help everyone. But everyone can help someone." Love 4 Luke
