Students are getting some help after six beauty schools suddenly closed across the state.

The Marinello Schools of Beauty notified the Connecticut Office of Higher Education that the Connecticut locations would be closed on starting on Feb. 5.

The school had locations in Torrington, Meriden, East Hartford, Willimantic, Hamden, Fairfield and Niantic. There were nearly 500 students enrolled in the Connecticut schools.

The Marinello Schools of Beauty in Connecticut are regulated by the Office of Higher Education.

A workshop will be offered to help former Marinello School of Beauty students transfer to other schools, learn how to discharge their federal loans and ask for tuition refunds.

The workshop runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Office of Higher Education on Woodland Street in Hartford.

Executive Director of the Office of Higher Education Jane A. Ciarleglio said the Office of Higher Education has obtained the students records and will make them available to students.

"Students can contact our agency to request copies and should attend our workshop to explore transfer opportunities with other schools, and learn how to discharge their federal loans and request tuition refunds. Officials from the U.S. Department of Education and representatives from local cosmetology schools and our agency will be available," Ciarleglio said in a statement on Wednesday.
