WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police in West Hartford said they arrested five people believed to be responsible for armed cell phone robberies that happened Thursday night.

Samuel Lopez, 18, and 19-year-old Trevon Henderson, both of Waterbury, face a number of charges. The other three suspects were juveniles, according to officers.

Police said they were sent to the parking lot of a Verizon Wireless store on New Britain Avenue around 9:30 p.m.

A victim told them that while he was in his vehicle, a man armed with a handgun demanded money and the victim's cell phone.

Police called it a disturbing case where one of the suspects put the gun on the victim's neck while an infant was in the same vehicle.

"We also had an infant in the car which the suspect completely  disregarded," West Hartford Police Lt Ted Stoneburner said.

The victim was able to see a partial license plate number.

A short time later, police in Farmington said a similar incident was reported in their town. Numbers on the plate seen in that incident matched the partial description provided by the victim in West Hartford.

The vehicle was pursued back into West Hartford where it was stopped on South Main Street.

All five suspects were taken into custody.

Investigators determined that the vehicle the suspects had been driving was stolen. Inside, they found the items taken from the robbery victims in West Hartford and Farmington. Two handguns were also discovered.

No one was hurt.

Lopez was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree larceny, second-degree larceny, two counts of weapons in a motor vehicle, altering the serial number on a firearm, engaging in a pursuit, reckless driving and misuse of plates.

Henderson was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree larceny, two counts of weapons in a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm and altering a firearm's serial number.

The pair is expected to face charges for the similar incident in Farmington.

The juveniles were also charged, but their cases have been turned over to juvenile court.
