Hartford police said two men were injured when their car was riddled with bullets as they drove through the city's North End.
Officers responded to the area after receiving a Shotspotter activation reporting as many as eleven rounds being fired.
Additional officers were also dispatched to St. Francis Hospital as a precautionary measure and were met with a private vehicle carrying two injured men.
Both the men had suffered several gunshot wounds to their lower extremities. They were rushed into surgery and were initially listed in serious condition, but have sense been upgraded to stable, police said.
Officers canvassed Main Street and recovered several 9 millimeter shell casings.
Police said they are looking for a black four-door Honda with chrome trimmed tinted windows that may have New York registration plates in connection with the incident.
Anyone with information should contact the Hartford Police Department.
