Avon police arrested a 23-year-old man on Sunday after he was allegedly masturbating in a Walmart parking lot.
Police said Alexander Gailunas reportedly parked his car near the main entrance of the Walmart at about 10 a.m. on Sunday, where five 10-year-old girls selling Girl Scouts cookies were standing.
Gailunas was allegedly masturbating inside of his vehicle. Police said an eyewitness called them to report the inappropriate activity.
According to court documents, the last known address for Gailunas is in Winsted.
Nina Duggal said she is upset something like this happened in her community and she said she doesn't want to see the Girl Scouts lose their selling spot.
"I think they should be here, it's a public place. But I don't think it's right for someone to infringe upon what they want to do," she said, adding that maybe there should be some increased security in the area.
Gailunas was charged with public indecency, risk of injury to a minor, operating a motor vehicle under suspension, and possession of marijuana.
He was held on a $10,000 bond and appeared in court on Monday.
The Girl Scouts website says there are more appointments set for the troop to sell at that location this Friday and Saturday.
