WATERFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Waterford said as of Tuesday, 15 arrests were made in connection with a fight that broke out at the high school in town.

They said eight people were arrested on Feb 19, four were arrested on Feb. 20 and three were arrested on Feb. 22.

The arrests stemmed from a fight that escalated on social media following a basketball game between Waterford High School and Stonington High School.

Students from Stonington allegedly drove to Waterford the next day and the fight ensued, according to police.

Nine individuals from Stonington were arrested. One was an 18-year-old adult and eight were Stonington High School students, police said.

Six suspects were students at Waterford High School. Two of them were 18 years old.

Arrest reports for adults have not yet been completed due to the extensive investigative work that went into the case, according to police. Officers expected to eventually release their names.

Charges ranged from breach of peace to second-degree assault and inciting a riot.

The juveniles involved ranged in age from 15 to 17 years old.

Police said the case remains active, but no further arrests are expected.
