SOUTH WINDSOR, CT (WFSB) -

A man wanted on drug charges in Puerto Rico was arrested by South Windsor police on Wednesday.

Officers said Nelson Boyrie-Perez, 44, of Waterbury, was taken into custody around 1:30 a.m. after a traffic violation on John Fitch Boulevard.

Police said after they interviewed Boyrie-Perez, a check with the Department of Motor Vehicles revealed that he was wanted on an extraditable arrest warrant from Puerto Rico involving narcotics violations.

Boyrie-Perez was charged as a fugitive from arrest and held without bond pending an arraignment in court.

He was presented in Manchester Superior Court Wednesday morning.
