A registered sex offender was arrested after police said he was caught touching himself in a car in Milford on Tuesday night.
Police charged 24-year-old Dylan DeRosa with second-degree breach of peace and public indecency.
The arrest of DeRosa comes after police said he was spotted masturbating in a vehicle in the area of Beach Avenue and Wall Street just before 10 p.m.
When police arrived, DeRosa had fled the area. However, he was quickly located by officers and identified by an eyewitness.
The eyewitness told police that DeRosa “previously rolled down the window of the vehicle while performing the act and asked the witness ‘hey can you give me a hand with this'."
Alison Geiger and her son enjoy going to the park in the area where the alleged incident happened, and said learning about it makes her shudder.
"There are people out with their kids all the time, so its definitely very disturbing, disheartening to hear," Geiger said.
"Its disgusting and sorry that its happening in our neighborhood," said Ed Bonessi.
DeRosa was convicted of second-degree sexual assault in February 2013. Because of the arrest, DeRosa had to register as a sex offender in Connecticut. While he was out on bond, he was arrested for public indecency for doing the exact same thing he is accused of right now. That time it was in front of two girls. He was later sentenced to serve 18 months in prison.
DeRosa is being held on a $10,000 bond. He is expected to be arraigned at Milford Superior Court on April 1.
