Hundreds of tickets were handed by state police as part of a campaign to raise awareness about the state's "move over" law.
Troopers said on Wednesday that they issued 304 tickets between Feb. 22 and Wednesday.
Heightened enforcement was set to run through Friday.
They said the hope was to remind drivers of the importance to giving emergency vehicles, highway maintenance crews and tow trucks enough room to safely operate.
State police were very active on social media with posts of photos, videos and information.
They said five troopers and two auxiliary troopers were killed in the line of duty while stopped on the side of the highway to help drivers.
Fines for violating the law start at $181.00.
