Police in Branford said mechanics discovered a large amount of drugs secured to the undercarriage of a customer's vehicle.
That led them to arrest 33-year-old Kevlon Hutchings of New Haven.
Police said Hutchings brought his car to Brandfon Honda on West Main Street Wednesday. It was supposed to be a simple service appointment.
However, when mechanics put the car on the lift, a case broke and the drugs fell out.
Hutchings was said to have been waiting for his car to be serviced when Branford detectives took him into custody.
They said he had 15 grams of powder cocaine, 15 grams of crack cocaine, one capsule of "molly" and drug packaging material. He also had $1,776 in cash which they called consistent with drug transactions.
Hutchings was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession within 1,500 feet of a school.
Police said he posted a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to face a judge on March 15.
