MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) -

A state police dispatcher was arrested for enticing a minor, according to troopers.

They said Jeffrey Norton, 48, of Waterbury, turned himself in to the Middletown Police Department on Wednesday.

He was charged with risk of injury to a minor and enticing a minor for sexual activity, online.

"It panics me to know that in a place with so many kids, right next to a park, with so many kids that someone in that category would be around here," said Evelyn Rivera of Waterbury.

"He knows better. He shouldn't be doing that to minors anyway. They're innocent," said Darrin Shepard, of Waterbury.

Details about the circumstances of Norton's charges were not released.

Troopers said he has been cooperative.

State police placed him on administrative leave.

Norton has worked with state police since 2004 and was stationed at Troop I in Bethany.

He was released on a $1,500 non-surety bond and given a court date of March 16.
