New Haven Police investigate deadly shooting

NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

New Haven police are investigating a homicide after a man was shot and killed on Friday evening. 

At about 9:05  p.m., officers were called to Orange and Eld Streets for the report a victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was reported to be the passenger of a white Honda. 

When police arrived on scene, they weren't able to find the victim. A few minutes later, officers spotted the car parked on State Street. 

The man was brought to Yale- New Haven hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at 10:55 p.m. 

Police have not released the victim's identity and have still not been able to locate the scene of the shooting. According to police, there is a crime scene at an apartment on Walnut Street that may be connected to this shooting. Walnut Street is about six blocks from where the victim was found.

Police are still investigating this shooting.
