A 12-year-old boy riding his bicycle was struck by a truck Saturday afternoon.
State Police said the child, Joseph Kolashuk, was riding his bicycle in his grandparent's driveway off Raymond Hill Rd. (Route 163) when he traveled out into the street and was struck by a 2005 Dodge RAM pickup truck.
Family members and neighbors rushed to his side after he was hit.
A stretch of Route 163 was closed while State Police investigated.
Kolashuk was airlifted to Connecticut Children's Medical Center and has serious injuries.
According to the child's grandfather, the young boy suffered a broken leg and jaw, and brain damage is a possibility. He was not wearing a bike helmet.
"At this point we're just praying for Joe that God has grace on him and heals him," said Bob Collins, a family friend.
State Police are still investigating the crash.
It is unknown if the driver of the vehicle will face any charges. He has been cooperative with police.
