Wallet Hub ranks CT most expensive states for real-estate taxes

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

It's tax season and many people are having to shell out thousands of dollars for real-estate taxes.

A new report shows Connecticut is one of the most expensive states. 

The personal finance website Wallet Hub released its 2016's property taxes report.

Connecticut ranked 46th in real-estate tax out of all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The median home value in the nutmeg state is just more than $2,127 and taxes for that home are more than $5,200.

The median home value in the United States is $176,000 and the median real-estate tax in the United States is $3,500.
