Even though it is still winter, many people took advantage of the mild weather on Wednesday and took a trip to the beach.
"We were the only ones here for a long time people started showing up. It got warmer,” said Abbie Wellspeak, of West Springfield.
Students drove 90 minutes down from West Springfield High to enjoy the sun and warm temperatures.
"It’s sunny, it’s gorgeous there's no better place to be,” said Dori Ramsdell, of Storrs.
Some convertible drivers even had their tops down. Others even tested the water.
“Frigid to say it lightly,” said Evert McKee of Woodstock.
People were also seen taking in the ocean breeze while taking in a stroll on the newly rebuilt Niantic Bay boardwalk.
Beachgoers even have the chance for a repeat day on Thursday.
