MOODUS, CT (WFSB) -

A Moodus man suffered serious injuries on Thursday after falling from a high cliff at Devil's Hopyard State Park.

Environmental officials said the 24-year-old man was taken to Hartford Hospital via LIFESTAR.

He had been sitting on a cliff with three others when he fell into a heavily wooded and rocky area at about 2:15 p.m.

The man was taken from the woods by DEEP Environmental Conservation Officers, CT State Police, and the East Haddam and Lyme Fire Departments, a press release said.

Rescuers went more than one mile into the woods to reach the victim and carry him out.
