A 7-year-old boy reportedly abducted from his Trumbull home by his father early Saturday morning was located tonight as police continue to search for his alleged abductor, his father.

The Amber Alert was canceled around 6:30 p.m. after 7-year-old Ariel Revello was found safe. However, police said his father, 43-year-old Rodolfo Revello, is still missing.

The incident started when Ariel Revello was taken from his home on Unity Road around 4:30 a.m. Police said Rodolfo Revello forced his way into the home and violently assaulted his estranged wife in the bedroom.

Rodolfo Revello then went to the kitchen to retrieve a knife, however police said his 17-year-old stepson was able to disarm him at which time the victim jumped out a window to escape.

Police said Rodolfo Revello then fled the home with his son along with several thousands of dollars worth of cash and jewelry.

The child's mother was taken to an area hospital for treatment on non-life threatening injuries. She was released from the hospital on Saturday.

Around 5 p.m. Rodolfo Revello called the Trumbull Police Department and said he would drop his son off with a relative. Ariel Revello was located safe and unharmed in Queens, NY, which is about an hour away from Trumbull.

Ariel Revello and his mother returned with a police escort to their home.

"Our main concern is getting this child (Ariel Revello) home," Trumbull Police Chief Micheal Lombardo said at a press conference on Saturday afternoon. "We're using all of our resources to find him."

The police continue to search for Rodolfo Revello and his whereabouts are unknown.

Rodolfo Revello, who has a criminal record, had an active restraining order from his estranged wife active through September 2016. Trumbull police said he was allowed to visit children. Police added he usually did that when the victim was at work.

"This is the first time of heard of this happening in the Trumbull community," neighbor Michael Pogany said.

Police have been to the home before, but if is unclear how recent or if the same people were involved in Saturday’s incident.

Rodolfo Revello has criminal charges in Connecticut as well as federal.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Trumbull Police Department as well as New York and Connecticut state police with the investigation.

"At this point we are actively working with the FBI to try and locate where he might be. There is a possibility he might be in New York," Lombardo said. "We aren't sure which city or which burrough he may be in."

Police believe they are traveling in a white 2015 Ford Transit model van with Connecticut combination plate C040379.

Trumbull residents decided to hold a vigil near town hall and about a half hour before it begin, Ariel Revello was found safe.

"All the web sites in Trumbull pitched together. We couldn't figure out what to do we felt helpless," Trumbull resident Cindy Herman said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Trumbull Police Department at 203-261-3665 or call 911.
