A Hartford police officer is undergoing an internal investigation after a photo surfaced this weekend of his patrol car with a political sticker prominently displayed in it.
The picture being circulated on social media showed the Hartford police cruiser parked with a Hartford Police Department issued laptop inside and a "Trump" political sticker on the laptop cover.
Hartford police said in a statement Sunday, "The officer was counseled on the critical importance of remaining neutral and impartial. We also reminded all HPD officers to remain politically neutral."
Police went on further to say the officer involved will now undergo an internal investigation.
Deputy Chief Brian Foley said the sicker has been removed. "We are embarrassed and sorry for this lack of professionalism and judgment," Foley said.
The department also reached out individually to many community leaders to apologize for the incident.
