BRISTOL, CT (WFSB) -

Crews responded to a call about a fire at a home in Bristol Monday morning.

It broke out on George Street.

The area around 128 George St. is closed, police said.

Heavy fire and smoke was reportedly showing from the building. Firefighters on the scene said it grew to a second alarm.

However, it's been mostly extinguished. Firefighters said they were looking for hot spots shortly after noon.

Everyone inside was able to escape the flames.

There's no word on injuries or a cause.

Firefighters called the home a total loss.
