A crash involving a school bus closed a street in Hamden and left a driver with serious injuries Wednesday morning.
Police said Brook Street was closed between Wintergreen Avenue and West Side Drive. It reopened shortly after 11:30 a.m.
They said the bus was the only vehicle involved. The crash happened just after 8:10 a.m.
No children were on board the bus.
Emergency crews said they arrived at the scene three minutes after it was first reported.
The driver struck trees just off of the road, which prevented the bus from going down an embankment.
Crews said the driver was heavily entrapped as a result of the crash. It took them nearly a half hour to free the patient.
The person was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
The driver has not been identified.
Police are still looking into a cause.
