Hartford police have identified two men killed in a double-shooting in the city's north end on Saturday morning.
Jeffery Vail, 28, and William Ward, 33, both of Hartford, were found by police in a vehicle in the area of 18 Martin St. around 2 a.m.
Both men were suffering from gunshot wounds and were rushed to St. Francis Hospital where police said they were pronounced dead a short time later.
Police said someone approached them on foot and fired 13 shots. Police said Vail was shot multiple times in the torso while Ward was shot once in the chest.
Investigators located more than a dozen shell casings around the vehicle.
Officers from the Hartford Police Department Major Crimes Division are currently investigating the deadly shooting. Police said the victims were targeted by the suspects.
Police have not said if there are any suspects at this time. However, police said it appears that it was a single shooter who is believed to have fled on foot and the pair may have been targeted.
Reverend Henry Brown, who has been very active in the fight against the city's violence, said some kind of action on the part of the city and residents is long overdue.
"Something really got to be done about this, real soon because we don't even want to think about what happened last year in terms of what's going to happen this year," Brown said.
