LITCHFIELD, CT (WFSB) -

Connecticut State Police are reminding the public to lock their car doors after a string of burglaries this weekend.

State police tweeted that there were close to 100 cars burglarized in Litchfield overnight Saturday into Sunday.

Police said the affected streets were:

  • North Lake Street
  • South Lake Street

  • West Street
  • East Litchfield Road
  • Naser Road

State police along with local departments said they have noticed a "significant spike in vehicle theft and theft of property from vehicles in recent months," so they are reminding residents to lock their doors and remove personal property from their vehicles.
