Man directing traffic in Somers dies after being hit by car

SOMERS, CT (WFSB) -

A man who was directing traffic on Wednesday in Somers has died after he was was hit by a car near a fire house.

Officials said 52-year-old Bret Colucci was hit while on Main Street, also known as Route 190, around 11:15 a.m.

At about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday police said Colucci had died.

State police closed Route 190 at Sokol Road to Maple Ridge Drive for the investigation, however it has since reopened.

Police said Colucci was directing westbound traffic in the eastbound lane of Route 190 when he was hit.

The vehicle was driven by 93-year-old Chester Falkowski, who police said remained at the scene.

It is unclear if Falkowski is facing any charges at this time.
