A grant will revitalize downtown housing projects in New London.
The St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Elementary School in the downtown area of the Whaling City is one of the many recipients of the Connecticut Department of Housing’s latest grant to restore housing in the area.
The Catholic school is set is receive $2.7 million to aid in the restoration.
As part of the “CHAMP” program, nearly $28 million has been allocated in an effort to create up to 20 affordable rental housing units on Friday.
Efforts to preserve the New London building’s historic character is promised.
