A man from New Haven suffered from cuts during a robbery on Sunday night.
Police said it happened in the area of Orchard and Day Streets.
They said 59-year-old Earl Volpe was confronted by two men, one of whom said "give me your money."
Volpe told police that he refused and that's when the man pulled out a knife from his waistband.
The suspect came at Volpe and cut him on the forearm as Volpe tried to deflect the blade, according to officers. The victim said his hand was also cut when he tried to grab the knife from the suspect.
The two men made off with $160 in the direction of George Street, police said.
Volpe described his attacker as about 30 years old, standing 6'4" tall and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The suspect's partner was about 20 years old, 5'8" tall and stocky. He had long dark-colored hair and wore a leather jacket.
Detectives said they were looking into whether there was surveillance video that was recorded in the area.
