Suspect sought in connection with Waterbury homicide

WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) -

Waterbury police have obtained a warrant for a suspect wanted in connection the shooting death of a man Saturday morning.

Police said 20-year-old Luis Castro shot 36-year-old Harry Mendoza outside the Bobby's D Bar on Whitewood Road around 2 a.m. April 9.

Castro then fled the scene before police arrived.

Mendoza was rushed to Waterbury Hospital where he died later in the morning.

Castro is facing several charges including murder, reckless endangerment and illegal discharge of a firearm.  He is still on the run from police at this time.

Police said Castro should be considered dangerous and anyone who may have information into his whereabouts is urged to contact the Waterbury Police Department at 203-574-6911.
